Congregational Church Stays Connected
During the suspension of in-person activities in light of the Covid-19 situation, the Congregational Church of Amherst, UCC has a variety of ways for members and others to connect with church programs. This is especially important during April as Holy Week and Easter are on the horizon.
The most up-to-date information about church activities can be found on the church’s website (ccamherst.org) or by calling the church office at 673-3231. Sunday services are broadcast on FacebookLive and recorded for later on-line viewing. Services are followed by a Virtual Fellowship Hour. Links for these and other events can be found on the website.
The church’s Facebook page is another source of information, including updates and video messages from the pastors. Pastors Maureen Frescott and Kate Kennedy are available to provide pastoral care during this time, and the church welcomes community members to connect with this loving, serving, open and affirming community of faith.

2021 Hollis Arts Society 15th Annual Art Show and Sale
Hollis Arts Society (HAS) is very excited to host our 15th Annual Art Show and Sale, our biggest fundraiser of the year, Saturday and Sunday, November 6-7 2021, at the Lawrence Barn in Hollis NH. Hours are 9:30-4pm both days. There is no entrance fee and plenty of Free Parking.
Except for last year, our Annual show has become a tradition and a start to the Christmas shopping season for many. We are looking forward to gathering together and sharing our inspired work with the local community.
Artists spend many hours alone, getting focused and making our creations. HAS’ Annual Show gets us out of our studios and presenting our work to the public. Decorating with Art is another way to be creative. At HAS’s Art Show and Sale you will see reasonably priced, original art, great as a gift or to enhance a special place in your home. Also for sale is beautiful Jewelry, cool Hand-made Clothing, Photography, very sweet Christmas Ornaments and hand woven Wreaths.
Our show features about 25 Artists from Hollis and it’s surrounding towns. The price range is typically $20--$1000+. We are hoping a few food trucks will join us in the parking lot and add to the fun!
The money HAS raises at this event and throughout the year, helps us to share art with our community by hosting interesting presenters/artists at our monthly meetings. Recently we’ve had Wendy (Walters) Mckenzie of Voices of Clay, effortlessly throwing bowls on a potter’s wheel and advertising her Brookline studio, where we can throw our own bowls! We hosted fiber artist, Vicki Ciofrone of Cluck and Baa Farm, spinning yarn off her super relaxed Angora Bunny, showing us her high quality yarns and stunning woven shawls for sale. We had Aaron Kane, The Cut Paper Guy, with his fantastic cut paper portraits and cityscapes. Illustrator Barbara Morse showed us her amazing Super Realism Drawing techniques. Gary Samson, NH Artist Laureate and Emeritus Professor of Photography for NHIA, showed us the history of Wet Plate Photography and his beautiful portraits using this antique art form. Paula Furlong graciously demonstrated Palette Knife Painting on Zoom when we couldn’t gather in person.
Join us at our monthly meetings to learn all about the Creative Arts. We’ve had storytellers, dancers, demos on how to photograph your work, how to run a business selling your art, and so much more. Meetings are free for members and $5 for non-members. Hollis Arts Society’s members range from hobbyists to professionals. We gather monthly to learn and grow as artists but mostly we gather to appreciate exciting local art. Become a Member and/or Join us at Hollis Arts Society Annual Art Show and Sale to share in the excitement.
