Congregational Church Stays Connected
During the suspension of in-person activities in light of the Covid-19 situation, the Congregational Church of Amherst, UCC has a variety of ways for members and others to connect with church programs. This is especially important during April as Holy Week and Easter are on the horizon.
The most up-to-date information about church activities can be found on the church’s website (ccamherst.org) or by calling the church office at 673-3231. Sunday services are broadcast on FacebookLive and recorded for later on-line viewing. Services are followed by a Virtual Fellowship Hour. Links for these and other events can be found on the website.
The church’s Facebook page is another source of information, including updates and video messages from the pastors. Pastors Maureen Frescott and Kate Kennedy are available to provide pastoral care during this time, and the church welcomes community members to connect with this loving, serving, open and affirming community of faith.
Lorraine Alice Hamilton
AMHERST – Lorraine Alice Hamilton of Amherst, New Hampshire, Beach Haven, New Jersey and Rancho Mirage, California died June 14, 2020 from pancreatic cancer at her home in California. She was 73 years old and a participant in the trial of a new cancer drug at NYU Langone in New York City since April 2019. She hoped that results from the trial would improve care for other patients who develop this cancer. She was with her family when she died and was

Mont Vernon Resident to Have Role in the Dean College Theatre Production, All Together Now!
FRANKLIN, MA -- Delaney Corcoran of Mont Vernon will play Female Ensemble in the Dean College production of All Together Now!: A Global Event Celebrating Local Theatre, beginning Friday, November 12 through Sunday, November 14, 2021.
Celebrating our return to live theatre, we are excited to join thousands of theatrical organizations around the globe this weekend in the production of Music Theatre International's All Together Now!: A Global Event Celebrating Local Theatre. This energetic revue features songs from the world's most iconic musicals, so there is something for everyone to enjoy. Our goal with this worldwide event is to provide hope, inspiration, and excitement to our community through the transformative power of musical theatre.
All Together Now! is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
The Dean College production of All Together Now! will take place in the Main Stage in the Campus Center at Dean College, 109 West Central Street, Franklin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, as well as 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
Dean College welcomes families and guests over the age of 12 to all our performances, provided patrons have complied with all COVID-19 safety guidelines, including masking indoors and showing proof of vaccination.

Jennalyn Melissa Speer Inducted into
Order of the Gown at Sewanee
SEWANEE, Tenn - Jennalyn Melissa Speer of Mont Vernon (03057) was inducted into the Order of the Gown at the University of the South during a ceremony held on Sept. 17, 2021. Jenna is the daughter of Melissa & John H. Speer III.
The Order of the Gown is an academic honor society and a unique student government body among U.S. colleges and universities. Since 1875 the Order of the Gown has remained the body responsible for maintaining the spirit, traditions, and ideals of the University of the South. The wearing of the gown is both a sign of academic achievement and a promise to continue the ideals and traditions of the University.
The University of the South is a nationally recognized university comprising a College of Arts and Sciences and a distinguished School of Theology. Jasmin is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 under the leadership of undergraduate student Marcus L. Urann who had a desire to create a different kind of honor society: one that recognized excellence in all academic disciplines. Today, the Society has chapters on more than 325 campuses in the United States, its territories and the Philippines. Its mission is "To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others."
