Congregational Church Stays Connected
During the suspension of in-person activities in light of the Covid-19 situation, the Congregational Church of Amherst, UCC has a variety of ways for members and others to connect with church programs. This is especially important during April as Holy Week and Easter are on the horizon.
The most up-to-date information about church activities can be found on the church’s website (ccamherst.org) or by calling the church office at 673-3231. Sunday services are broadcast on FacebookLive and recorded for later on-line viewing. Services are followed by a Virtual Fellowship Hour. Links for these and other events can be found on the website.
The church’s Facebook page is another source of information, including updates and video messages from the pastors. Pastors Maureen Frescott and Kate Kennedy are available to provide pastoral care during this time, and the church welcomes community members to connect with this loving, serving, open and affirming community of faith.

Sher the Dough:
Baking Bread in Amherst
Sherry Hall in her Amherst kitchen, baking bread for local charity
BY SUSANNA HARGREAVES
AMHERST – Sherry Hall has taken baking bread to a whole new level during the pandemic. Hall now bakes for a cause, and her mission is called “Sher the Dough.”
Since September, Sher the Dough has already raised and donated just over $2000 dollars for local charity.
According to Hall, a local non-profit organization is chosen and partial or all the proceeds from that month are donated. Local organizations donated we have donated to in 2020; the Boys and Girls Club of Souhegan Valley and Marguerite’s Place in Nashua. For the month of December, Sher the Dough is dedicated to SHARE in Milford, NH and so far over $200 dollars has been raised along with donations of non-perishables and essential family toiletries.
Sher the Dough was born by giving back, “Sher...ing” with the community.
“To sustain, I have to charge for my bread, but in the same token, we (my customers) are giving back. Currently, I start to make my levain on Friday nights and by Monday Morning, I am baking off the final production. And delivery and/ or pick-up occur on Mondays.” Hall said.
Hall’s most popular breads are the savory Cheddar/Jalapeño and for sweet bread, Chocolate, Cinnamon Swirl, and they are delicious.

LaBelle Winery Creates New Product Line, “The Winemaker’s Kitchen” Spirit Infusion Kits
AMHERST – Winemaker Amy LaBelle and Cesar Arboleda, co-owners of LaBelle Winery in Amherst and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, announce a new handcrafted line of “spirit infusions” under LaBelle Winery’s “The Winemaker’s Kitchen” line of culinary products. Six flavors are included in the new line: juniper berry citrus, cinnamon vanilla, spicy bloody Mary, triple citrus twist, vanilla bean old fashioned and cranberry vodka.
Spirit infusions, developed in Amy LaBelle’s home kitchen, enhance home bar offerings through the process of incorporating natural flavors into pre-existing alcoholic spirits (not included in the kits). Each of LaBelle Winery’s infusion kits has a unique flavor profile made with selectively sourced ingredients. Included in each kit is one Ball jar; herbs, spices, and fruits for infusion; and simple-to-follow instructions. Consumers add their favorite liquor to the infusion jar, let it rest for approximately one week, and then enjoy it with family and friends.
“I had so much fun making these infusions in my home kitchen,” LaBelle says. “I was able to tweak recipes and change ingredients as needed to come up with six unique flavor profiles. The resulting liquors are distinctive, and cocktails made with them are delicious. I’ve gifted the kits to friends and family this holiday season—I think they would make great gifts any time of year. People will love the creative process of making their own infused liquors to enjoy with their loved ones.”
LaBelle Winery’s infusion kits can be purchased online at LaBelleWinery.com or by visiting LaBelle Winery Amherst. Each kit costs $13. Kits can also be shipped or delivered locally.
