Congregational Church Stays Connected
During the suspension of in-person activities in light of the Covid-19 situation, the Congregational Church of Amherst, UCC has a variety of ways for members and others to connect with church programs. This is especially important during April as Holy Week and Easter are on the horizon.
The most up-to-date information about church activities can be found on the church’s website (ccamherst.org) or by calling the church office at 673-3231. Sunday services are broadcast on FacebookLive and recorded for later on-line viewing. Services are followed by a Virtual Fellowship Hour. Links for these and other events can be found on the website.
The church’s Facebook page is another source of information, including updates and video messages from the pastors. Pastors Maureen Frescott and Kate Kennedy are available to provide pastoral care during this time, and the church welcomes community members to connect with this loving, serving, open and affirming community of faith.
Lorraine Alice Hamilton
AMHERST – Lorraine Alice Hamilton of Amherst, New Hampshire, Beach Haven, New Jersey and Rancho Mirage, California died June 14, 2020 from pancreatic cancer at her home in California. She was 73 years old and a participant in the trial of a new cancer drug at NYU Langone in New York City since April 2019. She hoped that results from the trial would improve care for other patients who develop this cancer. She was with her family when she died and was

Omicron Delta Kappa Celebrates New Members
LEXINGTON, VA – Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, welcomed more than 1,100 new initiates from 41 universities during November 2021.
Students initiated into the Society must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate/professional students in the top 35% of their class, demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars, and embrace the ODK ideals. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.

Jacques Wins 2 Events, Sets School Record to Lead Saber Boys
MILFORD – Competing in their first Indoor Track Meet of the season, against 5 Division I opponents at the Hampshire Dome, the Souhegan Boys had some excellent performances, led by senior Wil Jacques who took first place in the Shot Put, winning the event by almost 9 feet! Wil's put of 48' 7" shattered the Souhegan school record which was set back in 1996, by over a foot and a half!
As if that weren't enough, Wil competed in the High Jump for the first time ever, and won that event with a leap of 5' 8"! The Sabers' Jackson Steckbeck captured 2nd place in the High Jump (5'6"), and Sean McCool (5'2) finished in a tie for 4th.
On the track, the Sabers were led by outstanding performances in the 55M Dash from Tony Garrant who sprinted to 2nd place in 7.01 seconds, and JJ Bright who captured 4th in 7.20. In the 1500M, Jaren Noorda and Finley Irvine raced to 3rd place and 6th place respectively in 4:31.71, and 4:47.68, both huge personal bests! Carson Behn eclipsed the 40 second mark with his excellent 39.94 clocking in the 300M to earn 3rd place in that event.
The boys 4x1 lap relay of Tony Garrant, Jace Henderson, Carson Behn, and JJ Bright, raced to 3rd place with an outstanding time of 2:52.07!
SHS Girls Indoor Track Starts the Season at Hampshire Dome
MILFORD – The Souhegan Girls opened up their Indoor Track and Field season at the Hampshire Dome against 5 DI schools on Thursday afternoon. In the first event of the day, sophomore Stephanie Svendsen raced to a strong 2nd place finish in the 1500M in 5:14.57! Freshman, Anna Brammer-DePuy also raced well, taking 5th place in 5:19.53 in her first ever indoor race! Next up was the 600M, and senior Emma Herrero raced to an excellent 1:51.84 capturing 2nd! The Sabers 4x1 lap relay also captured 2nd place led by Herrero, Emma Kennedy, Mackenzie Cretsinger, and Svendsen) in an excellent time of 3:24.44.
