CHILDREN’S SPOOKY POEMS AND PICS

Hey kids --- We’re getting in the mood for Halloween!!  Are you feeling spooky, too???  Then, help us “decorate” our webpage! ANYTIME DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER, share a spooky poem that you’ve written, or a Halloween-y picture that you’ve drawn.  We’ll put them up on our website to help everyone get into the Halloween mood.  All poems and drawings should be originals, that you create yourself.  Take a picture of your creation and email it to atlcr123@gmail.com.  Please include your name and age.

ZOOM BOOK CLUBS

Our Book Clubs begin meeting in October and traditionally meet once per month.  We invite you to visit our Children’s Book Club Page for complete details:  http://www.amherstlibrary.org/childrens-room/online-book-clubs-kids

      Our Clubs this year include:

We All Read: Book Club for Kids and Parents, too!

We All Read is for older elementary kids and their parents.  Each month, we select a chapter book for both parents and children to read (either together, or each on their own).  When we get together the next month, we discuss the book and do a book-related activity.

For kids in grades 3 and 4 with a parent or caretaker

Meets the third Thursday of the month at 6:30pm.

First Meeting: October 15

Great Stone Face Reviewers Club

The Great Stone Face Award is a statewide reading list for kids in grades 4-6.  Our club reads from a master list of the newest middle-grade fiction and comes to meetings prepared to evaluate these books for possible inclusion on next year’s Great Stone Face List.  We learn book-review skills, to stand up in front of a group to give our opinions, and we always have a lot of fun!

For kids in grades 5 and 6

Meets the First Thursday of the month at 6:30pm.

First Meeting:  October 1
