AMHERST – Lorraine Alice Hamilton of Amherst, New Hampshire, Beach Haven, New Jersey and Rancho Mirage, California died June 14, 2020 from pancreatic cancer at her home in California. She was 73 years old and a participant in the trial of a new cancer drug at NYU Langone in New York City since April 2019. She hoped that results from the trial would improve care for other patients who develop this cancer. She was with her family when she died and was

Amherst Daisy Girl Scouts Earn Their “Considerate and Caring” patch
Amherst, NH. Girls in troop 61564 put together a care package of goodies and homemade “thank you for your service” cards for ER healthcare workers at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua. The healthcare workers loved it and were very appreciative. This project earned these Daisy girls their “considerate and caring” patch.
Amherst Town Band Resumes Rehearsals – Welcomes New Members
The Amherst Town Band resumed rehearsals in March. The band rehearses every Tuesday night from 7:30 to 9 PM in the band room at Souhegan High School. The mask requirement for indoors is now optional. However, all players are required to be fully vaccinated for Covid 19.
The band is now preparing for a slate of performances in the summer. New musicians are welcome to join. For more information, see the band website at www.amhersttownband.org.
Trivia Night is back! The Friends of the Library invite you to LaBelle Winery Amherst for an evening of brain-bending trivia Thursday, May 5 from 7-9:30pm, all to benefit the Amherst Town Library. We’ll have an appetizer buffet, cash bar, and exciting raffles.
The competition will be lively - register in teams of 10 or connect with us individually or in small groups to join a mixer table. Tickets are $50 per person, and include a $10 wine tasting voucher.

During the month of May the Friends of the Amherst Town Library are pleased to be showcasing selected artwork by students from Clark and Wilkins Elementary Schools, Mont Vernon Village School and Amherst Middle School. To celebrate these young artists, a reception with refreshments is planned for Saturday May 7 from 12-2 PM at the library.
With incredible support from SAU39’s art teachers, the Friends of the Amherst Town Library, a volunteer organization supporting our library’s programs, has hosted this crowd pleaser for many years.
Student artwork will be on display through May 26. Come and see the masterpieces these students have accomplished throughout the school year.
