Children’s Programming, Amherst Town Library – April 2022

STORYTIMES:

ZOOM Family Storytime:

Tuesday mornings at 10am, April 5, 12, 19

      For preschoolers ages 3 and up with younger siblings always welcome.  If you’re trying to avoid group activities… Join us on ZOOM for Family Storytime! This program lasts about 50 minutes and includes a wide variety of books, fingerplays, and songs.  At the conclusion of each session, caregivers are invited to assist their children with a simple craft.

* Family Storytime will be offered in-person at the library on Wednesday mornings at 10:00am, April 6, 13, 20

      For preschoolers ages 3 to 5, younger and older siblings are always welcome.  Caregivers must be present for any siblings younger than 3 yrs.  No registration is required.

      Family storytimes are designed for the interest and attention span of the preschool-kindergarten set.  The program lasts about 50 minutes and includes a wide variety of books, finger plays, and songs, followed by a simple craft.

*  Little Listeners Lapsit Time will be offered in-person at the library on Thursday and Friday mornings at 10:30am, April 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22

      For children age newborn to 3 years.  No registration is required.

      Our youngest group offers an opportunity for babies, young toddlers and their caregivers to gather for rhymes, songs, puppets and a simple book or two. This 30-minute program emphasizes traditional rhymes that reinforce language patterns and provide for parent/child interaction.

DROP-IN S.T.E.M. FRIDAYS:

Track Time! - Friday, April 1 from 3:00 to 4:30

      Come on down to the library to explore our assortment of tracks---and vehicles to travel on them. Use the materials available to build structures and obstacle courses to make the adventure even more fun---the only limit is your imagination!

      For ages 4 and up.  No registration required.

Build It! - Friday, April 15 from 3:00 to 4:30

      Drop by and let your child explore our collection of building materials.  We have plastic tubes, marble racers, blocks, magnatiles, mobilos, lots of Legos, and more! Let’s see what you can build!

      For ages 4 and up.  No registration required.

Tech-Time for Kids! - Friday, April 22 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm

      Stop in and  explore our collection of S.T.E.M.-based activity kits: Snap-Circuits, Keva Maker Bot Maze, Ozobots, and more!  A great way to have a fun afternoon!

      For ages 7 and up.  No registration required.

PEEPS SHOW 2022

April 4 - 13 during our open hours, Stop by the Children’s Room to view all the wonderful Peeps dioramas on display.  Our last in-person Peeps Show was in 2019 and was so much fun we just had to bring it back.  Visit our Peeps Page for more information.

‘Peep’les Choice Voting - April 5 - April 11

      Library visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite diorama in each age group.  Come enjoy the show and vote for your favorites!

Peeps Day in the Children’s Room - Wednesday, April 13 from 10:00am to 4:30pm.

      Join us as we conclude our Peeps Show with a day devoted to Peeps.  Stop by the Children’s Room to view all the wonderful Peeps dioramas on display.  Find out who received the most

      ‘Peep’-les Choice votes.   Make a Peeps craft.  Enjoy a Peeps picture hunt or play a Peeps game. It’s sure to be a lot of Peep Fun!

SCHOOL VACATION WEEK: 

~ It’s a Family Affair ~

All Week Long - Visit the Children’s Room anytime the library is open during school vacation week, Monday, April 25 - Sunday, May 1 to make a craft at our Craft Table, see what you can spy in our Eye Spy Display, and go on a Picture Scavenger Hunt.  A fun way to spend a morning or afternoon!

Family Game Day -  Monday, April 25  from 10:00am to 4:00pm

      We will be making all kinds of games available for your enjoyment from classics like chess, Trouble, Operation and  Ker-Plunk to some fun literature based games like Dog Man: Attack of the Fleas, Stone Soup, and Dr. Seuss Stack with the Cat, to name just a few.  Spend an hour, spend the day, but definitely drop by for some fun!

      For ages 4 and up.  No registration required.

Fairy Tale Storytime -  Tuesday, April 26 from 10:00am to 11:00am

      Join us at the library for a special vacation storytime featuring Fairy Tales.  Miss Lisa will read some of her favorites and then we will make a fun fairy tale themed craft!  Hope to see you!For ages 4 and up.  No registration required.

Children’s Concert with Steve Blunt & Marty Kelley - Wednesday, April 27 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm

      Join us in the Children’s Room for a fun children’s concert with Steve Blunt & Marty Kelley. Award-winning children’s musician Steve Blunt & best-selling author/illustrator Marty Kelley team up for a fun show with music, books and lots of laughs. These longtime friends will perform catchy tunes on a variety of musical instruments--and Marty will read a few of his books aloud, with projected illustrations. A highly original combination for kids & families!

      Best for ages 3 and up!  No registration required.

Family Lego Day - Thursday, April 28 from 10:00am to 4:00pm

      If you love Legos, then come on down to the library to create with our mega collection of these colorful bricks and accessories!  We have tons of Legos for you to create the project of your dreams...  a great way to spend a few minutes or a few hours!

      For kids ages 4 and up.  No registration required.

Family Puzzle Day - Friday, April 29 from 10:00am to 4:00pm

      Who doesn’t like to make a puzzle?!  Come in and make one together with your family.  We have puzzles for all ages including book themed puzzles, floor puzzles, wood puzzles, 24 pieces, 36 pieces, and more. Don’t be bored at home… come make a puzzle with us!

      For ages 3 and up.  No registration required.
