Duane Hammond Voted Artist of the Month

‘Approaching Nor’easter’ is the title of artist Duane Hammond’s pastel painting, which garnered enough votes by the Lakes Region Art Association (LRAA) member artists to earn him the honor ‘Artist of the Month’.

Subject of his 30” x 26” painting was from his imagination and it depicts a Nor’easter storm about to break.

It’s his usual style of painting, where he focusses on creating a mood by including atmospheric conditions to set it apart from the static, picturesque,  nice sunny day approach many artists tend to use when painting land or seascapes.

“I want the viewer to feel the weather, hear the wind, see and react to the drama I’ve created by setting a mood,” said Hammond.

The Lakes Region Art Association Gallery is a non-profit 501 C-3 association at Tanger Outlets, Suite 200, 120 Laconia Rd., Tilton, NH
